A useful tool to analyse a company is a SWOT analysis. Via a SWOT analysis, the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that affect the performance of an organisation can be identified. SWOT analysis was first introduced by Stanford University’s Albert Humphrey in the 1960s and it is still one of the most popular analytic techniques amongst competitive intelligence professionals, as well as many other disciplines involved with strategic planning.
