Pro-choice advocates and the media are consistently telling us lies about what goes on during an abortion. The most common lie is definitely “My Body, My Choice.” Is that really true? Is the foetus really just a part of the women’s body? I don’t think it is.
Firstly, the baby has their own blood type entirely separate from the mothers. This is even been known to lead to diseases where the mothers immune system reacts against her baby’s blood type. Again, proving that the foetus blood type is indeed different. “Your body” does not have a separate blood type.
Secondly, the baby has their own set of DNA, A test which took place in 2010 works by separating the baby’s DNA from the mother to search for possible disease or genetic mutations during pregnancy the mothers blood contains about 10% of the DNA of the unborn child. They first mapped the DNA of the mother and the father she then took a blood sample from the mother, within the 4 billion DNA molecules they separated the foetal DNA strands that were buried deep within it. The researches were the. Able to piece together a genetic wide map of the foetus from the plasma sequencing data. This study is showing very clearly that the DNA of the baby is indeed separate from the mother.
Just because the baby is inside of you doesn’t mean it’s a part of you. When you sit inside your car, you are not a part of your car. Sure, you rely on aspects of the car to keep you alive like the seatbelt, airbag and the car properly functioning but you are not the car. Your body does not have a separate sex, blood type, DNA and so on. You have a separate body forming inside of you, something forming inside of you doesn’t mean that it’s you.
Another lie that we are told is that “It is just a blob of cells, it’s not even a human yet!” Despite the fact that there is a good amount of science to prove that life does indeed begin at the start of conception. According to the U.S. centres for Disease Control and Prevention, 66% of abortions are performed during the first 8 weeks and 92% are performed within the first 13 weeks. The babies heartbeat begins at 6 weeks, by 7 weeks pain receptors appear in the mouth area and you can hear the heartbeat at 8 weeks, by 10 weeks all components of the brain and spinal cord are formed. At 13 weeks the baby has their own finger prints, organs and visible skin.
Some professionals even believe that the foetus is able to feel real physical pain during an abortion. The foetus is a human being no matter what stage of development they are in. With this, it is obvious that killing the unborn baby is inhumane. No matter how you spin the issue, it is inhumane to kill an innocent life no matter how small.
Even abortionists themselves know the inhumanity that comes with the procedure. Should it really be a discussion? Most anyone would agree that surgically ripping apart a human being and pulling it from the womb, the place that is “meant” to be safe is inhumane and wrong on every level. There is no excuses you can make.
Excuses and Logical Fallacies
Several excuses are made in the name of abortion but most of them are based on myth and feeling instead of actual fact or truth. Here’s some of the excuses here which are going to be debunked:
What about the right of the mother to choose?
The mother has the right to choose. She can choose whether she wants to have sex or not, she as well as her partner can choose to take the proper pre-cautions to avoid pregnancy. But once a child is conceived, does the child have a choice? Don’t make an innocent life to pay for your recklessness, your mistakes and so on. The baby deserves rights just you and I.
But what about rxxe?
Anytime you try and bring up Abortion someone is quick to jump up with a “what about rxxe?” question, as if that somehow dismisses the entire argument. This however is nothing more than a un-rational reaction that is not founded on statistics or facts, only 0.3% of abortions are performed because of rxxe. This entire rxxe argument is based on not even 1% or the reasons abortions are performed. 98.3% of abortions are done because the mother was too young or not ready/ responsible, economic reasons, to avoid adjusting life, single mother and so on. So let’s start addressing the problem with abortion based on 98.3% of the reason they are done, instead of hiding behind 0.3% of the reasons abortions are done.
What if the mothers life is in danger?
Physical life of the mother as a reason for abortion makes up 0.1% of abortions and that’s even a smaller statistic than rxxe. 0.1% as a reason for abortion being your prime justification for abortion is honesty ridiculously faulty and not founded on stats.
What if the baby has a bad life?
This is by far one of the most ridiculous arguments I’ve ever heard, the baby might have a bad life. Oh! So let’s just kill it now. You have no way of knowing that the babies life will turn out to be. There are many famous people who are almost aborted but were birthed instead and have grown up to have an impact on society. If this is the only excuse you have; you’re out of excuses.
People think abortion is the only option
I honesty hate it when pro-lifers refer to women who get abortions as “baby murderers” to guilt them from the decisions they’ve made. Many girls who get abortions are scared, confused and honesty believe abortion to be their only option. I know it is very common for people to simply say “Just put the baby up for adoption!” Like it’s no big deal. But adoption is a very good alternative and theirs assistance you can seek which provides many benefits for an easier pregnancy. Some adoption assistants provide with you with housing, financial assistance, counselling and your medical and adoption fees will be fully covered.
There are other options available, besides aborting and taking away the innocent life of a baby. So remember, it’s not your body. You decided to not to take the precautions before having intercourse and this is the result. Abortion is inhumane regardless of what anyone says and there are other alternatives besides abortion.
Euthanasia
In this discussion of Euthanasia I’m going to go over some of the arguments against euthanasia (assisted suicide).
So some of the common arguments against euthanasia go like this. One is called the argument from nature, and this argument asserts that it’s in our nature to want to survive argument asserts that it’s in our nature to want to survive, so to kill ourselves or allow ourselves to be killed by someone else. This is wrong because it goes against our fundamental nature that we strive to survive, that e do anything in our power normally under everyday circumstances to survive, to allow ourself to be killed goes against our nature and is therefore wrong.
The second argument that we can discuss against Euthanasia is that it goes against our own self interest. So this is a pretty persuasive argument. This argument says that if we allow ourselves to be killed or we kill ourselves through assisted suicide, we might not be aware of a treatment that helps before the time we would’ve naturally died. So the argument goes, we shouldn’t have Euthanasia it’s a bad idea because people could otherwise survive if a treatment miraculously comes out.
There’s also the possibility that we could be misdiagnosed. Perhaps, the doctor believes that we have some sort of terminal illness but the diagnosis is wrong and in that case we would be doing the same thing. We would be killing our sleeves or directing someone else to kill us. When we could’ve otherwise survived. So both of these are sort of versions of the argument that Euthanasia is against our own self interest.
The final argument that I am going to discuss is probably the most popular argument and one you hear very commonly, it’s the slippery slope argument.
So the slippery slope argument against Euthanasia states that if we allow people who are terminally ill (that is people who are diagnosed by a doctor or is having less that 6 months to live). If we allow people to be euthanised or to commit suicide who are terminally ill but very badly off (someone who has burnt their entire body or someone who is depressed). If we allow people who are terminally ill to die it’s going to lead to depressed people to die as they are suffering too. So the slippery slope argument shows that Euthanasia shouldn’t start at all. We shouldn’t allow it at all, it isn’t a good idea that we are going to go down that slippery slope so let’s not have Euthanasia at all because if we have Euthanasia it’s going to slide into less clear cases of consent and we are going to slide all the way down of that slope.
Here is just a brief understanding how Euthanasia works and the arguments people have made on the topic.
The similarity of both issues
It is true that the link between abortion and euthanasia has become more common over the last two decades, it is important to keep in mind that they are still regarded as separate issues. Although they do share some common similarities, the existent principles and arguments of the two issues are proven to be very different.
Abortion essentially involves killing of an unwanted foetus with a potential life ahead of it. On the other hand euthanasia involves relieving an individual from pain and suffering by quickening the death process and extending to a persons own freedom.
