When you hear the word America what do you think?

When most people hear the word America they think about many things some say New York other say the freedom of democracy, equality, diversity and opportunity and theirs a massive list of other reason. America was built by Immigrants and they came to start a new life because were they came from might be terrible to live or theirs no jobs. However recently America have been getting a negative view due to the Trump administration and guns and this is what the essay going to be about Guns.

Why does the United States one of the world must powerful and high influential country have this issue and what could be done to stop it because as human we try not to think about deaths. We try to think about the positives in life even thou it’s not realistic however it follows us around. In Chicago IL many people got use to the fact that people die or get injured by guns and most of them turn a blind eye on this situation and that’s a fact that we humans try to forget deaths murders an extra however it follows us around like a drone for example the parkland shooting in America and the 9/11 attacks.

In the past few years, we hear about school shooting to gun crime rising every day and this should stop. We hear about lots of ideas to reduce gun crime, some include removing guns from every American, however there are there are more gun in America than people, it would be physically impossible to do that, even though this would be the most logical choice.

This essay is not about removing guns, it’s about either introducing new legislation or changing the US second amendment to reflect the world of the 21st century.

What legislation should be introduced in this situation, I would like to see the following legislation to be introduced into a federal level instead of a state legislation however as the United States government is split up into 3 branches which 2 out of 3 branches must agree on the following legislation  so it can become to a federal law however it’s politically hard to have both sides agree because as we know each party has their own agenda that they bring to the table and there should be a compromise that both side agree with for example the removal of guns that would not happen.

However if we can introduce a robust gun control system which will regulate gun purchasing, mental health checks, finally gun test and age restriction.

Mental health check

In 5 out of the 51 states they have a law that’s called The Extreme risk protection order (ERPO) laws empower families, household members, or law enforcement officers to remove a person’s access to firearms, knifes and so on from your possession and this decreases the chance of them committing these act violence however to get your possession back you got to go thru a rigours test were they will do psychological examination. And this will decrease school and work place shooting and personally great example were this law would have prevented the Douglas high shooting because this student had wrote and mention that he would carry this attack on the internet and the local authorities had failed on many level

First removing any weapon and protecting the 34 kids which resulted to them either injured or died with this act of terror.

Dana Loesch spokesperson for the National Rifle Association and parent of two is on full support with the (ERPO) which is great compromise for both side so I can see this law go thru as a federal law however it all comes down to each person’s agenda and that’s where the issue come from.

Regulated Gun Purchasing

The united states have quite a few gun laws regarding gun purchasing so first in for most If you’re looking to buy a gun you should only go to government vetted gun store because they would sell you the right gun and do a background check on you which comes to a standard on purchasing however many gun store don’t follow these procedures making it a higher threat to society so what I’m thinking should happened is to gives these gun store who don’t follow government regulation 3 option.

1st option should be follow government regulation and do background checks, 2nd option should be a fine of $75,000 dollars and the last option is shutting the store down.

Another way to purchase Guns would be at gun shows & here’s where their a big enough issue because at these event your allowed to show off and sell weapons without doing background checks and also it lets 3rd parties to sell their guns at these event without letting the event authorities know anything so this is where the government should regulate as I said in the first part who’s  should sell these gun and give names of the people at the end of the day they should give the list to the ATF and forbid 3rd parties selling firearm at these events.

Gun Test

I think we should introduce the America would benefit the same gun system as Switzerland as we know Switzerland let their citizens to own and use their guns for self-protection or pleasure and that where it system is great because they make you do test every 2 years and validate if your using your guns for proper use like hunting ,Sport ,Self-protection and so on. This would benefit America as hole because it would regulate how Americans use their guns.

Age restriction.

I think it absurd that 18 year olds can buy rifles & shot guns and when your 21 your then allowed to buy a hand gun.18 years old shouldn’t have the right to have that much man power on their hand I don’t get you’re not allowed to drink till the age of 21 however your allowed to purchase a rifle when your 18. This age restriction must be raise personally because, I think you should be in the range of 24 to 26 years old to buy hand guns to riffle that’s sound more appropriate because the these age restriction are screwed up an should be revoked.

The black market is illegal and their no question asked.

However, it lets criminals and others to trade and sale firearms and drugs on the market and this cause most of the shooting in American how could you tell this any gun you purchase have a serial number on it which is logged on the system if your serial number is not on the gun then that would raise suspicion on where you purchase your gun.

The United States of America Government realise that the black market has seen a” 5% growth in the past two years and 12% drop in the GDP” the result of this affects the GDP because they don’t report it on their taxes according to Bloomberg (2013)

The United States Government saw that trading and selling of firearm at an all-time high and the ATF has no control on who and where they get these guns because they don’t known what guns could be purchased on the black market. A handful of Americans spend their money in the black market for their own gain like buying military grade weapons and this is where the problem starts. Their buying, Military grade weapons that are illegal to purchase in any gun store in America and the result of this they aren’t recorded to the local authorities who we should trust and this is where politicians including the National Rifle Association otherwise known as the NRA get scrutinised for supporting guns.

However, these acts of terror by a local terrorist they aren’t from people because as people we are learnt at school or by our parent’s to treat others the as we would like to be treated. These people who think it’s okay to carry these attacks they aren’t people they are mentally derange wild animals and I hate calling people animals however this is the best terminology to describe them.

There been a news report a few years ago by (CNN, Inside edition 2015) about the Black market and how easy it is to purchase a gun where a reporter bought a 50 calibre snipper riffle from the black market for $550 that rifle was used in military operations and it quite powerful these guns should have never got their and raises the question if the reporter managed to get her hands with this weapon how many are their out there because these aren’t supposed to be available on the market and the army follow strict guide lines on the disposal of these weapons.

The Second Amendment what is it? The second amendment is part of the American constitution which gives American the right to “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

This law came into effect by the founding father in June 21st 1790 back then the English empire was strengthing and the United States didn’t have an army that could defeat the British however this law give them the right fight for their great nation.

However nowadays Americans doesn’t really need this law because they are heavily protect by the National guard, Air force, Navy and the Army.

However, I’m not saying to remove this law. What I’m trying to say is to change this constitutional right into the context of the 21st century because this constitutional right is old and doesn’t really relate to the 21st century

However, It would be impossible to change the constitution because it need to be agreed by the  3 branches. If we look at the US Government structure it splits up into 3 equal branches

First would be Legislative Branch which would include Congress, The senate and house of repesentives.  The second branch would be the Executive Brach which translate to the president’s power in America and the last branch is Judicial Branch which includes the supreme court.

However, nowadays all sides must agree which would be politically impossible because you need to get all the divisions to agree, 2/3 agreeing won’t work you need everyone to agree. Which is politically unheard of however it did happen a couple of times in American history.

Ultimately, this essay has exposed the urgent need to introduce new federal legislations and now it’s the perfect time to introduce these legislations to prevent another Douglas high school attack and how many more death should their be till the American government does anything to introduce these new legalisations.

However, we need to remember that these attacks are from animals and they should be treated accordingly if they think it’s all right for us to live in a false sense of security then they deserve any punishment from the jury from prison to the death penalty which I do support these punishment.
