Quick Response Codes (QRC) have numerous applications in various environmental, economic and engineering sectors. Since its inception, many people have opted to use the QRC in their day to day lives, to carry out various functions. With so many applications being applied by the QRC technology, it is probable to have various types of Quick response code, these include QRC model 1 and 2, Micro QRC, I QRC, SQRC and logo QRC.
The QRC model 1 is the original QR code that was invented that enables encode of up to 1,167 numerals and its highest version is 14 [4]. Model 1 however was still rigid and need a major upgrade, the model 2 was an improvement of model 1. Model 2 was an improvement on model one in such a way that makes them readable even if they are distorted. Model 2 QR codes could be printed on a curved surface whereby their reading images may be distorted due to the reading angle but still be read efficiently referring to an alignment pattern embedded in them [5].
The normal QR code has been created using three finders’ patterns which are placed at the three corners of the QR code image, in comparison to the traditional QR code the Micro QR Code has merely one finder pattern for positioning [4]. The traditional QR code requires no less than a four-module wide margin whereas a micro QR code has a two-module wide margin. Under this circumstance the micro QRC can be printed in smaller places [5].
The size of the micro QRC does not impede its data storage capacity. Micro QR Code not only enables to encode data more efficiently than the regular QR Code, but the size of Micro QR Code also does not need to be made much larger when the numbers of data stored rising. In addition, the standardization of Micro QR Code is made publicly available similarly to QR Code [5].
IQRC is a matrix-type two-dimension barcode and its position and size is read easily [4]. IQRC is not considered as the traditional barcode since it holds more data and its interfacing capabilities are fast. The IQRC can be smaller than both the micro QRC and the traditional QRC. It is able to print out as a rectangular code as it supports for turned-over code, black and white inversion code and dot pattern code [4]. Because of its rectangular nature, the IQRC’s applications in several fields are limitless and can easily replace the barcode. The IQRC can maintain the code readability while it is printed on cylindrical products, even though square modules are difficult to print on cylindrical surfaces [5]. Additional advantages of the IQRC over the traditional QRC is that the IQRC has a high restoration capability which is higher than the traditional QRC. The QRC correction highest level is recovered not more than 30% of an error in a QR code, however compared with the QRC the error correction level of IQRC is improved by 50% [5].
The SQRC is a type of QRC that has a reading restricting function. The SQRC concentrates on private data storing and internal data of enterprise managing [4]. The properties of the SQRC are like the traditional QRC. The SQR function does not ensure securing of coded data, it restricts reading capability to specific scanners only. The logo QRC is a QRC function that combines the QR code with an image.
