“We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.” A quote from Ronald Reagan that has been proven throughout every decade of history and can be proved in every situation to this day. Ronald Reagan, the 40th president of the United States was known as a kind and courageous leader. Ronald Reagan proved he was the best fit for resolving the Cold War. Not only a leader but the president of the United States, Ronald Reagan displayed leadership and determination in doubt after World War II had ended. Everyone thought there was going to be a World War III but Reagan used non lethal warfare against countries so that wouldn’t happen. President Reagan stayed persistent on aboloishing communism in the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Reagan completed the task by meeting with foreign leaders and gathering other countries to support with the use of propaganda posters to help the cause of ending communism before it spreads across the entirety of the world (End of The Cold War). Ronald Reagan was the best president to end the Cold War because he used non lethal warfare, had summits with foreign leaders, and showed foreign countries new reforms towards progress.
The Cold War started in 1947 and ended in 1991. This war contained limited weapons which means it relied on propaganda, economical, and, political “fighting”. The name Cold War was originally introduced by an English writer by the name of George Orwell. He believed this war would result in a nuclear gridlock. This proved to be wrong in the end of this war of communism. On November 4th, 1980 Ronald Reagan was elected the 49th president of the United States. Ronald Reagan would then become a key player in ending this cold war. Reagan was one of the first United States presidents to reach out to other countries like the Soviet Union and resolving these foreign issues peacefully. He resisted in the use of lethal weapons such as propaganda helped him solve this war without bloodshed. Mr. Reagan was often considered the best president ever as his policies included cutting taxes and reducing welfare. Besides his policies his negotiating is what marked him the title he received as one of the best presidents ever. Throughout the Cold War there was multiple presidents. From Franklin D. Roosevelt to the popular John F. Kennedy only one man changed the course of long war (Britannica). Ronald Reagan was the best president to end the Cold War because he used non lethal warfare, had summits with foreign leaders, and showed foreign countries new reforms towards progress.
First, Ronald Reagan, was the best fit for resolving the Cold War because he used only the best propaganda against the Soviets. Reagan worked hard on using deteriorating propaganda against the Soviets to make them look bad. Reagan used poster and spread his communism ending movement across countries as far as Asia. Reagan depicted communism as a negative thing causing this practice of the Soviets to make there people and country look bad as well. This was a key part in ending the Cold War as Reagan banded together foreign countries to help stop the practicing of communism is the Soviet Union grow to other countries. Reagan used the definition of the name given to this war to his advantage as the Cold War definition states the words hostility and propaganda. Reagan proved during this time that there was no letting up in destroying the communist that lie in the Soviet Union. Reagan not only destroyed the Soviet Union’s communist ways at their feet but was able to drive them out of their own country to obliterate the negative practices of the Soviets and there people (Britannica). Secondly, President Reagan, attended summits with Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev. President Reagan met with Gorbachev to help resolve leading the communist party in the Soviet Union. These summits that both Gorbachev and Reagan attended were held in Moscow, Russia. Reagan was eager to resolve the Cold War and the communist practices of Gorbachev so he attended four summits in total. These summits attended by Reagan stretched from mid November of 1985 to mid October of 1986. Reagan showed he is the best fit as he spent almost a full year of meeting trying to stop the Soviet Union in their tracks. Not only did Reagan do this for the United States of America but helped free those under Soviet control inside the heart of Russia (Britannica). Reagan figured it would be best to attend these summits in Moscow the countries capital to show there is no fear in ending these feuding propaganda war. With Reagan’s hard work and determination he helped end the Soviet Union progression but that was only half the battle. Reagan still remained unsatisfied there (Britannica). By late 1989 the last of the Soviet troops left Afghanistan. From May 15th to May 19th Gorbachev visited with Beijing to normalize relations with one another again. During a summit Reagan suggested as Gorbachev was to leave communism in the past that it would be a strong point to strengthen relations with those that have been lost with. Reagan met yet again with Gorbachev days before this apology to the people and leader of Beijing suggesting that he should make people with Beijing as they had prior to the Cold War. This demonstrates the determination and power of Ronald Reagan. This also shows why President Reagan was the best fit to resolving the end of the Cold War and eliminating communism (Gale). Ronald Reagan was able to help the people of the Soviet Union restore back to normal. The Soviet Union was a communist country all over. Gorbachev wanted his people to have no rights and follow as he says. President Reagan was able to negotiate with the Soviet Union and restore it back to the present day Russia we know today. This situation did not go as planned for President Reagan. Part of the Soviet Union wanted to lead towards a republic. The other half wanted to move towards independence. Not only was this a tough decision for Gorbachev but as well Reagan. President Reagan had felt like all his hard work to free as many as he possibly could from these communist ways could all go to waste. Ronald REagan decided to trust his gut feeling and lead Gorbachev in the right direction for independence in Russia. No longer Reagan wanted these people to follow the rules under a communist society. The Soviet Union slowly gained independence in early 1989. This was also a dark time in Germany. But by 1989 the new Soviet Union had helped Germany to reform. By the end of 1989 the Berlin wall had been destroyed and new reform started in Germany as well. By late 1991 the Soviet Union had dissolved completely. Gorbachev announced a huge Soviet arms cuts and agreed to commitment to freedom of choice, After this big announcement the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is established. This commonwealth is distinguished of countries in post Soviet control and was implemented in 1991 directly after the Cold War (End of The Cold War). In conclusion, President Ronald Reagan was the fit for resolving the Cold War. President Reagan used propaganda techniques to reach and wide view of people across the world to put and end to Soviet Union terror and communism. President Reagan proved time and time again that the qualities in his character proved to be valiant and most successful in stopping this feud. sage across. Reagan had met with foreign Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev. These summits proved to be the most successful attribute Reagan had put forth in his efforts to end the war. Reagan met with Gorbachev an overall 4 times during these summits to discuss a new face to the Soviet Union. Reagan also used his leadership qualities to help guide Gorbachev to reform in the Soviet countries. The President also helped Gorbachev and the Soviet countries make peace with Beijing once again and restore what the Soviet Union had before. Reagan was a loyal and determined president as displayed with his time in office. The president cared about his foreign affairs and stopped what could have grown into one of the biggest empires in that time.The final way President Ronald Reagan was he helped the Soviets dissolve there bad ways and helped lead towards progression. Not only did President Reagan help the Soviet Union reform but he helped the Germans gain their independence as well. Reagan helped destroy the Berlin wall. He helped the chancellor of West Germany push towards progress as he did with these Soviet Union (Gale). These reasons and examples of why President Ronald Reagan was such a brave, determined, successful president show why he was the best fit for resolving the Cold War against the Soviet Union.
