The Belgians like to eat their portions in a very big size and the food must be from a very good quality. They would rather eat traditional food than any other cuisine. Most of the time your plate will consist out of vegetables, bread, a small portion of meat and a dash off sauces. Belgium is also well known for their delicious chocolates, their sugar coated waffles and their lovely beer. Famous food festivals include the Potato day and the Chocolate Festival as well as some Beer fests.
1.Beers
Belgium produces over 800 different kinds and tastes of beer.
‘ Wheat beer is usually served with a seafood dish.
‘ The blonde or Tripel beers are served with the white meats such as chicken.
‘ Dubbel or Dark beers are usually served with red meats such as steak.
‘ Fruit Lambics are served with your sweeter desserts to give those ‘sweet teeth’ an extra kick.

‘ Chimay Tripel
‘ Pale Lager
‘ Lambic Beers
‘ Flemish Red
‘ Abbey Beers
2.Appetizers
‘ Botterhammen: Sliced bread served with a soft cheese used for a spread.
‘ Charcuterie: A smoked piece of game ham served with soft and creamy cheese.
‘ Salade Liegeoise: A green salad mixed with beans, onions, and bacon. It is usually served with a balsamic or a white vinegar.
‘ Tomate Crevette: A hollowed-out tomatoe stuffed with some tangy mayonnaise and some perfectly cooked shrimp (usually grey shrimp).
3.Savoury dishes
‘ Moules-frites: Perfectly cooked mussels mixed with celery and onions, served with chips on the side.
‘ Carbonade Flamande: A delicious beef stew cooked in a spectacular beer served with your choice of starch. Choose between bread or chips. It is served with a mustard sauce.
‘ Waterzooi: A rich and creamy stew served with your choice of chicken or fish soup, with some vegetables, cream and eggs on the side.
‘ Fillet American: A raw beef fillet pate and sauce served cold on a slice of bread served with crunchy chips.
4.Desserts
Desserts in Belgium is usually served in restaurants but mostly on the street in a dessert van used as a tuck shop.
‘ Speculoos: A crusty cinnamon wafer cookie.
‘ Smoutbollen/ Croustillons: Sugar coated dough balls which is deep fried and served on special occasions.
‘ Tarte au riz: A rice pudding filled pie.
‘ Sirop de Liege: A sticky jam or jelly spread made from some exotic fruit juices.
5.Restaurants
‘ Henri-Henri: They serve fusion dishes.
‘ Fin de Siede: Restaurant with the best cooking dishes to choose from.
‘ Ricotta & Parmesan: Here you can enjoy some Italian food in a healthy environment between all of the old buildings.
6.Attractions:
‘ Grand palace: The French Forces bombarded the guildhalls of the Grand Palace where after it was rebuild in 1695.
‘ Atonium: It was founded in the 1958’s just after the World Fair. The Atonium consists out of 9 enormous metal balls that are linked together.
‘ Waterloo Battlefield: The Waterloo Battlefield changed the European history during June in 1815 when Napoleon was defeated for the very last time. The famous musicians ,Abba, was inspired through this occurring so they wrote a song titled ‘Waterloo’.
