Imagine some years from now and there is no more glaciers in the polar ice caps, no more water in the ocean, and animals that were once known become extinct; these problems could be avoided but will occur if we keep avoiding the issue, which is climate change. Climate change is when changes in the Earth’s climate system result in new weather patterns that last for at least a few decades. Climate change is part of our everyday lives. The issue of global climate change is not addressed properly to the world. It’s important that countries around the world work together and recommend international policies to protect the environment, minimizing the global climate change and start focusing on plans how we can all cooperate together. The changes in the climate has affected our movement, health, agriculture, air quality, and average temperature around the world. All of these affected will increase because the global population is growing everyday and more people demand more energy. Climate Change policy in the World needs to change. More energy is going to increase, meaning carbon emissions are going to increase which leads to global warming. For the United States, we need to decrease carbon emissions because the current path is going to lead to catastrophe. One example in an article, “Patricia Espinosa stressed in two recent interviews with the Associated Press that climate scientists are saying there’s still a chance to make things right “but the window of opportunity is closing very soon” and the world has 12 years until carbon emissions reach “a point of no return.” If we still have a 12 year window of opportunity to decrease carbon emissions until there is a point of no return we need to all work cooperate and fix what’s damaging the environment. Carbon emissions can cause a lot of damage to the human health. Breathing will become more difficult when the carbon dioxide rises, and it can lead to many health issues for people.
According to “President Obama’s climate action plan”, carbon pollution fell to the lowest level in two decades, even as the economy continued to grow. Obama’s policies were designed to slowly affect the climate change to make a cleaner and stable environment for future generations, building efforts underway in many states, and communities across the country. One of the important points President Obama made was not just one thing that can reverse the effects on the climate change but also the moral obligation to act for our future generations.
In President Obama’s 2015 State of Union, he said, “Over the past six years, we’ve done more than ever before to combat climate change from the way we produce energy, to the way we use it.” The main guidelines of the plan are to cut carbon pollution in the United States, prepare the United States for the impacts of climate change, and lead international efforts to address global climate change. Obama’s plan was to make carbon pollution to stop threatening the public health. Today, climate change is still a big issue for us due to current administration’s policies which have done everything they could possibly do to undo all of Obama’s visionary plans.
The Trump administration has been very detrimental to fight the counter act of climate change. The climate change in United States has transformed a lot from decades ago. Trump immediately upon his inauguration, released his “American first energy plan” which focused more on increasing the use of fossil fuels and has no regard to renewable energy. This plan would repeal many Obama policies including the Climate Action Plan and EPA’s mission of protecting air and water quality. Trump has a willingness to dismiss scientific facts and that directly contradicts its own policies published by administration scientist. Trump himself doesn’t believe that climate change is actually affected by people’s actions. In an interview with the Washington Post, Trump said “One of the problems that a lot of people like myself — we have very high levels of intelligence, but we’re not necessarily such believers. You look at our air and our water, and it’s right now at a record clean..just many other places — the air is incredibly dirty. And when you’re talking about an atmosphere, oceans are very small. And it blows over and it sails over.”Trump claims that climate change is fake news and does not want people to believe in it. He believes it is nonsense, so he can change Obama’s policies and allow oil, coal, and fossil fuel companies to continue pumping carbon dioxide into the environment, just to make money.
Barack Obama is mostly about how to help the environment and save the planet for future generations. He believes that it can be done in a way to create jobs in the renewable energy sector and replace jobs that were lost in the fossil fuel industry. He was looking towards a better future for many generations to come. Donald Trump’s actions show that he is focused on making more money and he does not care about the consequences or the damage done to the environment to fulfill his needs. President Trump is willing to say anything in order to change the climate policies for the sake of making money. To prove this point, Trump has said “The concept of global warming was created by and for the chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.” Trump is showing that he doesn’t have the best interest of the future generations well being. While, Obama was looking out for others well being and regards to their safety and health. One example, Obama gave a speech at Georgetown University

“I refuse to condemn our generation and future generations to a planet that’s beyond fixing… That’s why today i’m announcing a new national climate action plan, and I am here to enlist your generation’s help in keeping the United States of America a leader, a global leader in the fight against climate change.”

There are many examples of President Obama looking out for our future, “And remind everyone who represents you at every level of government that sheltering future generations against ravages of climate change is a prerequisite for your vote!”It is clear that Obama is more proactive when it comes to communities and helping the people of today and tomorrow and knowing what is best for everyone.
When looking at Obama and Trump through the lens of environment climate change, they both could not agree on a single thing due to having different options and genes on what’s best for the country and the world. Obama has a passion to continue to look out for the safety and health by knowing what is best for others. Trump has proved that he is willing to sacrifice the environment and truly believes it is doing no harm, but it is really hurting the planet. When it comes down to reducing carbon dioxide output he would not even think about it because it will cost more money. In Newsweek article, Trump stated “The concept of global warming was created by and for the chinese to make manufacturing non- competitive.” Obama has always shown a desire to make a value about what others think about the climate change. He has always made decisions to about climate change and knowing what’s going to happen for others. Trump is more interest undoing anything that Obama has been doing for the environment because he wants to erase Obama’s legacy. Even after leaving office Obama has continued to try to make the world a better place and help the climate problems to be solved. He still works with former members of his admiration and organizations like GreenPeace to solve the problems of carbon dioxide. In an article Obama returns to spotlight to speak on climate change, “to face one of the greatest global challenges, climate change and the issues linked to food supply in an increalsy populated world with progress scarce resources.” He gave this speech to challenge Trump’s goal and to collapse climate change agreement forget in Paris. Knowing President Trump he is most likely to give out his opinion and not caring what others think about what he is saying, and trying to prove his point. Donald Trump has shown he only out for himself with this simple quote “I like money. I’m very greedy. I’m a greedy person. I shouldn’t tell you that, I’m a greedy- I’ve always been greedy. I love money, right?” This information climate change is big deal and the person you want to work with you is clearly Obama because he is making decisions based not for himself, for everyone else. Where Trump every decision is to better himself at the cost of everyone else.
The planet is in precarious position. The problem of climate change threatens and damages to wipe out specie, melt the polar ice caps, produce severe weather throughout the globe if the issues like carbon emission is not solved. The climate change we all need to make sacrifices and tough choices to have a healthier environment. Having a leader guide us through this process will be make it less challenging on knowing what’s best for us.
