Introduction
Our project is about air pollution and the effect on global warming. First, we explain what air pollution is and also in the explanation we will discuss briefly what it has to do with global warming. Then, is told how the air pollution happens and how that can trigger the rise in temperature on our globe. Next, we’ll explain the effects of air pollution and global warming, the greenhouse effect, enhanced greenhouse effect, and animals will be discussed in these paragraphs. Last, in how to solve air pollution, global warming we inform how to protect your own help and reduce the air pollutants that cause all the harm and rise of temperature. Enjoy reading the report!
What is air pollution?
Air pollution is when harmful gases, dust or smoke enters the air and makes the air harmfull to every thing that need air.
What causes air pollution?
reveals itself when harmful gases, dust or smoke occurs in the atmosphere and makes it difficult to live for plant, animal and humans because the air is not clean anymore
Effects of air pollution: global warming
(Enhanced) greenhouse effect
Greenhouse gases are gases like methane, carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide. These gases rise up to the ozone layer and get stuck, they thicken the ozone layer, because of this more sunlight gets stuck in the Earth’s atmosphere, and the temperature rises. This is why it’s often referred to as the greenhouse effect because it works in the same way. It is good that this is happening because if it wouldn’t, the Earth would be a lot cooler, scientists estimate around 33 degrees celsius, but the amount of greenhouse gases in the air are gradually changing right now, there used to be a good balance between the sun rays absorbed by the earth and the amount that is re-emitted into space, this balance is called the equilibrium. Now the atmosphere is changing because of burning all the fossil fuels and big population which needs and thus uses a lot of electricity, the carbon dioxide has risen gradually, experts know this by measuring the temperature for the last 50 years and through ancient ice bubbles in the Antarctic.
Impact on the Earth
The climate is changing so fast right now, that it will be a big challenge for species to adapt to it, also more unpredictable climate is a thread to all life. Temperatures have always been going up and down but the difference in average temperature between now and in the ice age is only 5 degrees celsius and this happens over hundreds of millenniums. Now that the temperature rises so quickly ice sheet like those from Iceland and Greenland start to melt too which can causes a huge rise in sea level. Weather can also become more extreme; heavier storms and lots of rain followed by long droughts, this can even result in changes from the times in which plants and animals live.
Animals
If the trend continues, then in about 50 years the Earth will be so warm, that the regions that the polar bears, will no longer exist. They won’t have enough ice and snow. Since the polar bears need this habitat, they will no longer be able to exist in the wild. The only place where they may exist would be in zoos, climate change is affecting the polar bears already. They have to stay on land for a longer time, because the ice forms later and later in the year and lasts for a short time. Polar bears need the ice to live. They hunt seals from the ice floes and with less time on the ice. The less time they have to fill their stomach. Polar bears do not hibernate: sleeping all winter. They need to have enough fat storage build up throughout the winter to last them throughout the spring, summer, and parts of fall. So to answer the question, is global warming killing animals? Yes, yes it is.
How to solve air pollution: global warming
There are a lot of ways to reduce global warming. Here are some solutions given. The climate crisis can be solved. Make good choices about transportation. If you can, walk, ride a bike, or take public transportation. For driving, choose electric cars or choose cars that get better miles per gallon of gas. There are also more options for you power provider, for example you may be able to request that your electricity be supplied by solar and wind, and if that’s not possible, ask why not, and try to convince the company to get green energy. If you go out, switch off the lights, because large amounts of fossil fuels are burnt to produce electricity. Another option is to change your thermostat to reduce energy for heating. Use a clock thermostat, because you can set when you want the thermostat on if you’re home and when you are working it will automatically turn off so you save energy/electricity. Do not throw away items that you don’t use. Recycle them so it can be used for another purpose. Technology and science are already busy with inventing ways to replace biobased products (material or product that comes from biological or renewable resources) instead of fossil fuels. This can be replaced for:
● diesel fuel
● home heating oil
● plastics
● textiles
● gasoline
● etc.
These biobased products are an advantage for health problems, because it is cleaner than gasoline, and would reduce problems such as asthma and some cancers. And perhaps most important, support leaders who push for clean air, water, and responsible steps on climate change. You can join a group like greenpeace, learn as much as you can about the climate crises and try to come up with ideas to solve air pollution, so you can speak up to your community. If schools also hear about this, you can start a campaign to plant trees in the neighbourhoods. This can help people to change their minds and realize that something has to happen, so we can live a good, healthy life. And if you believe in praying, pray that people will find the strength to change.
Conclusion
Air Pollution is when harmful gases, dust or smoke enters the air. Air pollution occurs when harmful gases, dust or smoke comes into the atmosphere. Gases like methane, carbon dioxide thicken the ozone layer and make it to thick to let sunlight get back to space and heatens up the earth. but what about the animals? one of the most drastic effects on animals is on the polar bear. In approximately 50 years he has only a little piece of snow and ice. In the foreseeable future he will have nothing of that left. When you want to reduce the amount of air pollution you can use for example electric cars or use the public transport. demand that your energy comes from sustainable energy sources, pay attention on how you use your energy in your house ( light, heating, gas stove). You might as well try to convince people to be more alert to air pollution and give speeches in schools or community meeting.
