Describing the roles and responsibilities of School Governors, Senior Management Team, Other Statutory Roles, Teachers and Support Staff
School Governors:-
Firstly, the roles and responsibilities of School Governors are:- to set aims and objectives for the school and to adopt new policies for achieving the aims and objectives. Also to set new targets for achieving the aims and objectives and to manage the schools finances and the pay for staff. On the other hand, school governors also have the role and responsibility of reviewing staff performances throughout the school, appointing new staff for the different areas of the school and finally, to make sure the school curriculum is balanced for the different year groups
Senior Leadership Team:-
The roles and responsibilities of the school senior leadership team is to:- work closely with the school headteacher, to share responsibilities for all aspects of the schools leadership and management and to be held responsible for all of the planning and directing the work to groups of individuals. Finally, the schools senior leadership team has the role and responsibility of monitoring the work of pupils and staff and to take corrective action when the school senior leadership team think it is necessary.
Teachers:-
The roles and responsibilities of the teachers in the school are to plan, prepare and deliver lessons to meet the needs of all of the pupils throughout the school, to mark the children’s work and record the pupil’s development throughout the year and to help pupils and provide education for the future. Also, to identify any educational, intellectual or physical issues that may stop or reflect on the students work and to show respect for the pupils in their class and to teach respect to others around them. Finally, teachers have the role and responsibility of setting the children goals on their work for them to achieve by the end of the year.
Other Statutory Roles:-
The role and responsibilities of SENCO are that it works with teachers and parents of the child who may have additional needs, this may relate to learning or disability and to access the child and if necessary to develop an individual education plan that will give everyone targets to work on the best possible outcome for the child and the targets made will be reviewed and updated to see what progress has achieved. Finally, SENCO has the role and responsibility of supporting children in the best possible way inside and outside of school.
Support Staff:-
The roles and responsibilities of support staff are:- to help in planning, deliver and evaluate the learning and learning activities with the class teacher. Also, Support staff have the role of preparing activities for the children, assisting pupils who may require additional support and to observe the pupils performance and behaviour. Finally, support staff have the role and responsibility of setting up activities for the children and using ICT
External Professionals Role
Educational Psychologist – They help to provide advice and support for school and parents of children who have special educational needs
Speech and Language Therapist – They work with the children who have difficulties with understanding, expressing themselves and using communication to socialize appropriately.
– They work with children who have the difficulty of eating, drinking and swallowing.
Local Authority Advisors – To ensure sufficient school places are available by building or extending schools.
– To provide support for schools
– To provide access and provide home to school transport
– To allocate finance to the schools
– To assist the government in implementing legislations relating to schools, children and families
Behaviour Support Team – To support schools to show change is positive in the behaviour of children and young people that are experiencing difficulties with their behaviour, emotional and social development.
School Nurse – To work with pupils, teachers and parents to promote good health and wellbeing in school age children and young people
Family Support Worker – They can give emotional and practical help and they are also there to give advice to families that are having long and short-term difficulties
Organisation Description of Role Impact On Work In School
Social services Social services has a key role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children who are in need.
Police The police work closely with social services to protect children and young people from harm
Health Services To examine children with injuries which they suspect may be non-accidental but they have a duty of care to alert social services when abuse is suspected
