Pardon the pun here but really this topic is a load gun waiting to go off. It is such a heated debate that there is no way to really solve it or put it out. First off let’s get some information first so we are on the same page. A firearm is just another name for a gun or rifle. A Handgun is a gun that can be used with one hand. Now that we have that we can move on. I am going to talk a little bit about the history of firearms and then talk about the handguns as well as talk about police officer involved in a shooting and what they have to go through or, as they call it Officer-Involved Incident and I will also be talking about the guide lines that they follow.

In 1232 Chinese use gunpowder filled tubs as a weapon but it was more of a rocket then a gun. Now fast foreword to 1364 we see what we can call a gun and from there it was changed to what we know today. Now as I had said before I am going to talking about handguns such as the pistol. There has been a lot of mass shooting in the United States over the last 10 years. I am not going to say that has not been for that is a lie. At the same time they only count for a small part of all crime in the US in 21 year gap there has only been 70 mass shooting in the USA. There is more crime in one year then all the years I looked combined that is not to say they are not a problem but problem is not the guns it is the people holding the guns. While I am all for gun control, I feel there should a tighter requirement to getting a firearms. I am one that does not really care too much about guns but, there are a lot of people that do. A gun is nothing more than a tool in the right hand is a great tool in the wrong hands it a deadly tool. But, that can be said about any tool really

Moving on to the Open carry vs the Concealed carry, just as the names imply they are that to where anyone can see it you are opening carrying if, it is hidden then you are concealing it. I will also be talking about the some of the restrictions I feel should be put in place for firearms as well. I know this will not be at realistic in the littlest bit as there is the other way but legal way to get firearms, but it would help control and maybe hinder them as well. Please keep in mind this is for a perfect world and there is no black market. Limit the number of guns a person can own or at an address. I know that will not stop the mass shooting but they will have fewer guns to fire off. Ammo is something else that can be limited as well again I know this will not stop the shooting as well but what it will do is lower the people that are hurt. Those two things will help no matter what. Now one of the biggest thing that the government can do is make it harder for people to get guns as well and, how may you ask can they do that the simple answer is they really can’t but again this for the perfect world have anyone that wants a gun get a state of mind test done what it will do is show that person that wants the gun is in the right state of mind to have deadly tool in their hands. NICS dose the looking into the background of anyone that wants to buy a gun. Now that is out of the way we can move on to the open and concealed carry debate. Both have good points and bad points that is just way of anything. All states have concealed carry laws in which you must have a permit to do so. There some states that you can open carry without a permit and there is some sates that to carry a gun open or not you need a permit and then there is others that you can only concealed carry. Kansas is one that you don’t have to the permit while Texas is a concealed carry only state. Funny part is Oklahoma is between the two states in you must have a permit to carry no matter what. I am not going to lie and say that Texas is right in what they do or Kansas or even Oklahoma that is up to you really. This is my thoughts on this whole thing I think Oklahoma has the right idea on how it is done it does not take away from the gun owners but at the same time it keeps Joe Smoe on the street safe as well as any nut case can’t have a gun with them, also it makes sure everyone is being safe with their guns as well. That is really all I am going to say on that. When you break it down into which states fall into what group there are more without permits then you a permit there is even less that will not let open carry at all. Thirty-one states will let you carry without a permit twelve with a permit and seven that will not let you open carry at all D.C. is one of them that will not let you open carry. Let me clear up something before I go on. I am not for the out lawing of guns just for tighter control on getting a gun but, on the flip side I know that if a person really wants a gun they will get it no matter what end of story.

Any time an officer is involved in a shooting or anything they like that use the IACP which is International Association of Chiefs of Police they have a set of guide lines that they follow. I found a former chief of police for Herington and ask him about what he felt keep in mind this was not a shooting he had to deal with and he said “I never had to deal with a shooting while the chief of Herington but I had to go thought it with an officer.” Gordon the guy I talked to said for this officer involvement while he could have use another agency he decide to use the KBI because they had more man power and more know how to deal with it he felt that it was a better chose. One of the reasons why they will bring in another agency is so this way the public can’t say they are trying to protect the officer and the other reason is they are non-byest now in a lager city they may have an agency that all they do is deal with officer involvement but as small town we don’t and I don’t know for sure on the lager cities. To find the whole thing on what happens when an officer is involved in a shooting you can look up online I will give a short summery of what happens when officer shooting happens. Please keep in mind IACP are nothing more than guild lines and should use case by case. One of the biggest things that need to happen is seal off the area so no one can mess with evidence. Now this may also include the officer’s gun it may not depends on other factors. All witness’s statements are taken independently and the witnesses are also split part to make sure there is calibrations also Gordon said any videos like dash cams are taken and kept safe so they can’t be tampered with. None of this is done by the officers that work with officer involved in the shooting this done by the agency doing the invitation. In the IACP also recommend that they also see psychological to help prevent psychological and emotion problems form happing down the road. Let me pause here for a second and explain why I keep saying agency rather then something else Gordon said “he feels that any officer incident should be handle by an outside source” so the investigations is far. One thing is the officer is not required to see anyone. The officer can talk about at any time they like with in the first 24 hours. If you can’t tell a lot of this so they don’t really put presser on the officer and don’t make could be a bad situation worst that is fine. In that we don’t need someone with the training that an officer goes through to become a threat to the public. While they still can become one it is hopeful that the academy makes it so they do not become part of the police force there are some that do make it but on a whole it dose filter them out. Bad new sells better than good news why I am not sure but that is case is it right no, it is not the media has found out what sells and what does not. Dose it feed itself maybe a little but to tell the truth have we became nothing more where we would do anything to get fifteen minute of fame. The answer I have to give is yes we have and it saddens me to no end.
