Of course there is a difference in furniture and facilities in the rooms and suites but they are cleaned the same way so they are put together in the same inventory, the rows in between brackets only apply to some rooms or suites. The only thing the resort will outsource are some window cleaners, to clean the really big windows in de lobby. Part A3
The three levels of sustainability leans on three things: economic value, environmental value and the social value. Those together are the sustainable society. But they cannot be reached without sustainable organizations (people, planet and profit) and sustainable leadership (care for me, care for all, care for me and you).
Sustainable society
People need to think again about the way they look at themselves as a social group. They should not only think about what they want now, but think about what is good for everybody in a long-term.
Environmental value: effective environmental protection.
Social value: equitable social progress.
Economic value: responsible for the economic growth.
Sustainable organizations
Organizations should focus on the economic, environmental and social part. They have to develop a good productive sustainable environment for organizations.
People: thinking about the society. What do people need? How do we deal with their interests?
Planet: thinking about the environment. What kind of impact do the products, services and processes have on the planet?
Profit: thinking about the gainings. Profit does not have to be expressed in money. It can also be for the improvement of knowledge or quality for example.
Sustainable leadership
The ‘leader’ has to be aware that sustainability is a good aim.
Care for me: the value of the individual human life.
Care for me and you: the value of relationships.
Care for all: the value of all living creatures and universe.
How can the One&Only resort apply the three levels of sustainability?
Environmental value: the One&Only resort can apply different actions to make the environment better. Because the hotel is so big, there are also a lot of lights. What the hotel could do, is lights that go on by movement. For example; if somebody is coming out of his/her room, the hallway will be dark. But as soon as the guest will make one step on the hallway the lights will switch on. Hereby, there will be no energy spilled by lights that are on for nothing. Also, at day, they can make sure that they have a lot of windows in their hotel. Then the daylight will light up the hotel and they do not have to switch on any lights.
To make the water use less, the hotel could think about rainwater harvesting. Hereby, there will be no ‘clean’ water spilled, because they catch their water themselves. Also, they can put a shower coach in the bathrooms of all the rooms in the hotel.
The One&Only hotel could also consider recycling. They can put baskets for paper, plastic and glass in the guestrooms.
