The ongoing concern of climate change continues to rattle the world with stunning facts and predictions for the future. Although this problem initiated a long, long time ago, nearing the 1830’s according to an article written by Roz Pidcock, it has continued to drag on to the 20th century and not only is it getting worse, there are companies and corporations that are making it worse without caring about the environment. Climate change has sparked the conversation of being the largest threat to humanity to this date.
It starts with the buildup of greenhouse gasses from burning fossil fuels and the extermination of areas that stock large amounts of carbon. The gasses that are released from the greenhouse that cause global warming are water (H20), carbon dioxide (CO2), and methane (CH4), according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). As we burn these gasses and discharge them into the air, causing climate change, slowly increases the problem. When these gases are released into the air, it disrupts the balance of delicate gases that are in the air already and causes the imbalance, which sustains life on our planet. Such a simple and small disruption has caused devastating impacts on not only the environment, but on people to.
There are many large features of life that are being destroyed by companies that are crucial to helping maintain global warming. First, forests are an important contender to the movement. Forests stock up carbon dioxide which is the main greenhouse gas liable for global warming today. Fresh water, water systems, and oceans have also been impacted by climate change. Lakes and rivers have been used for supplying fresh drinking water for a lot of big companies like Poland Springs for example. Due to climate change, which has caused many of these lakes and rivers to become intoxicated with waste from floods, drainage, dredging, and pollution. Glaciers in mountain regions have started melting which impacts the freshwater ecosystems. Not only does it affect the fresh water that is being supplied by them, but it’s also effecting the wildlife that lives where these glaciers are, and also animals and wild life that live between the trees that are being cut down. There are a plethora of areas around the world that are being destroyed from climate change and the actions that some parts of corporate world continue to ignore. It is the job of everyone who lives on this earth, to realize and to make a difference as soon as possible before it’s too late.
Elon Musk, a popular name in the corporate world today, also known for his roles in designing SpaceX and product architect for Tesla, creates an environmentally friendly car and spaceship as he attempts to help the ongoing climate change dilemma.
Tesla is an American automotive and energy company that specializes in the electric car industry and manufacturing. Recently, tesla purchased SolarCity Corporations; specializing in solar energy services. Basically manufactur4es and installs residential and commercial solar panels in the United States. And now that they have merged with Tesla, the company moves forward to assisting the environment by offering energy storage services over Tesla’s, creating turnkey residential battery backup services that embody Tesla’s lithium-ion battery.
According to a Forbes article written by Eric Mack, Mack says “Pretty much everything Elon Musk does is motivated, on some level, by his concern about climate change and the fossil fuels that most scientists believe are contributing to the problem.” Musk has designed a factory specifically for transitioning sustainable energy called the “Gigafactory”, where he plans to produce batteries that can be used to store renewable energy. He plans on assembling the batteries for Tesla Models in this factory in hopes of saving the environment. “Tesla’s entire reason for existing is to accelerate the worlds transition to sustainable energy” said Tesla representative Kamram Mumtaz. He again went on to explain how Tesla vehicles have saved more than 3.5 million tons of C02, and how their solar products have composed more than 10 billion kilowatt hours of clean energy across the world.
